Lyric
Picture
Picture
Lyric is a 21" Soft Sculpted freckled redheaded
child  holding her stuffed cat. Lyric is made of cotton wool batting over a wire
skeleton, covered in two layers of blended nylon. Her head is sculpted of
polymer clay, covered in nylon and handpainted. Her red hair is real, applied
to  her head strand by strand. Lyric's construction was done in layers, beginning
with anatomical drawings done to scale, muscles and fat layers built up over a
period of months, then needlesculpted for anatomical detail. For more insight on this process, check out the Soft Sculpture Process page.
Lyric  is  completely one of a kind. Her pale blue blouse and skirt were made from
vintage  cotton, trimmed in grey silk French seam binding and sewn by hand. Her
teal  stockings are made of new nylon and her matching strap shoes crafted by me
are of  teal ultrasuede. Her cat is a small copy of a treasured childhood toy of
mine,  it has a vintage blue and white printed cotton body, pink braided yarn
arms and  legs and a hand embroidered face. Lyric is a quiet child, dreamy and
sweet. Her  grey-green eyes suggest that she is thinking of something far
away, but only she  and her cat know what that would be.

One of a kind 32" Soft Sculpted "Dark Alice and Piggy", my version of Alice in
Wonderland with the baby that turned into a pig. This was a challenge piece for
the Etsy ADO (Art Dolls Only) team.
Alice and Piggy's heads were sculpted
from clay which was then fired, covered in dyed nylon and handpainted with a
layering technique. Their bodies are made with an internal wire skeleton,
gradual muscle and fat layers sculpted from cotton batting and built up over a
  period of three months.
Alice's dark brown hair is human, not a wig but
individual strands attached permanently. She wears a handmade jumper of vintage
red wool, striped shirt and stockings, and vintage strap shoes. Piggy wears an
antique baby bonnet and gown. Alice is permanently attached to
a painted
pine  base, and holds squalling Piggy securely, though she looks as though she'd
  rather not...
